We are expecting a weak nor’easter to blow in tomorrow, possibly bringing us our third snowfall of the season. And snow means animal tracks. I made this pocket guide* today as a Christmas gift for my grandnephew. I’ll print it on heavy stock with a small metric scale for reference. The probability of sighting moose or porcupine tracks here in Hampton Roads is vanishingly small**, but I believe one should be optimistic and prepared.

*After a pocket guide published by the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.

**In this case “vanishingly small” means “only if they escape from the zoo.” I might as well have included zebra tracks.
