Fan-shaped jelly fungus (Dacryopinax spathularia), on the garden work table, in Portsmouth, Virginia. 

We got almost 3 inches of rain yesterday (7.5 cm), and these luridly colored fungi emerged from the sodden cracks in the butcher-block tabletop overnight. The species name means “spade shaped.”
